About the Variety
Overview of the Breed and Variety |
The Black Variety actually followed the Mottled Variety. This means that the blacks were bred out of already existing Mottled lines. That is why it is so difficult to breed and keep a pure black bird...but we continue to strive for perfection. All lines are genetically tracked so that PURE black breedings are identified from those that they are influencing and to strive to breed the blackest blacks with staying power and the beetle green sheen. This variety is both recognized in the ABA and APA.
